Annual film and music festival cancelled this year but it is unclear why
Film and music festival Sundance London, born of the annual American Sundance Film Festival, has been cancelled this year. “It is not clear what factors have led to the cancellation of the music and film event, which has run at The O2 venue in south east London since 2012,” the Telegraph reported this afternoon.
A spokesperson for the Sundance Institute made a statement to Screen Daily: “We loved connecting with the vibrant community of filmmakers and audiences in the UK, and following a successful three years with The O2, we continue to explore our options for Sundance London. Though we are not confirmed to host public events in London this year, we hope to be able to return very soon.”
The festival aims to promote independent films and Sundance London had a total of ’21 features and 18 shorts screened in 2014 with 23 of those making their world, international, European or UK premieres. Seven were from first-time feature filmmakers.’
