Listen to The Game sample Florence + the Machine in ‘Ali Bomaye’

Today, I got my hands on The Game’s fifth studio album, Jesus Piece. I’ve always been a peripheral fan of his, loving his singles and the occasional album or underground track. This is the first album to reach my iTunes in its entirety and the first three cuts held my attention instantly but I ended up stuck on track two for the best part of the day.

I immediately recognised the Seven Devils sample and loved how the dark, alternative instrumental had been transformed into a hip-hop dream. The original song can be found on Florence + the Machine’s second studio album – Ceremonials.

Fans of The Game got a load for their money with Jesus Piece, considering they also got a load of unreleased material free. On October 28, he began Sunday Service; every Sunday he put out tracks that didn’t make the album for a variety of reasons, like sample clearance.

The Sunday Service mixtape contains ten unreleased songs and is available for free download. It includes the track, Holy Water, for which The Game also released a fairly explicit video.

Jesus Piece plays host to a myriad of features, including: Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, Kanye West, Common, J. Cole, King Chip, Trey Songz, Lil Wayne, Fabolous, Jeremih, Pusha T, Kendrick Lamar, Tank, Jamie Foxx, Wiz Khalifa and more.

Track Highlights: Ali Bomaye, Scared Now, See No Evil, Jesus Piece, Name Me King
