Taylor Swift wins big and apparently Geordies are like Germans
Host Heidi Klum, who wore six different outfits on the night, welcomed everyone around the world to the MTV Europe Music Awards 2012. The award show returned to her home country of Germany and was broadcast from the Festhalle in Frankfurt on November 11.
Special guest, Ludacris, was the night’s Master of Ceremonies. The unashamed, crude Geordie Shore cast hit the MTV EMA 2012 stage too, giving out the award for Best Male. ‘Actually us Geordies are very similar to you guys in Germany,’ Charlotte somehow managed to conclude.
Big nominees on the night were Rihanna with six nominations, Taylor Swift on five and Katy Perry on four. It was Taylor Swift who won big and scooped three awards though leaving Rihanna and Katy Perry empty-handed.

Winner, Carly Ray Jepsen gave a nervous speech as she acknowledged that she’d probably forgotten a large amount of names in her acceptance speech. She also gave a performance of her hit Call Me Maybe and big winner of the night Taylor Swift looked to be enjoying Carly’s performance too, singing along to the lyrics.
Psy’s Gangnam Style beat the likes of M.I.A. and Rihanna for Best Video. It was the first time he was nominated and performed at the award show. ‘EMA, you took my international virginity. Thank you,’ he addressed the crowd and viewers. ‘Does this ring a bell?’ Heidi Klum asked as she gave her rendition of the dance that has swept the nation. Psy’s performance began outside, against a backdrop of sun and sand, he stopped off at the Hoff’s van before taking to the stage with a troupe of dancers in tow. Jedward were loving it. If you didn’t know how to do the dance, the larger than life animated visuals were on hand to demonstrate.
