Could a Sandé-Harris collaboration be on the cards?
In a recent interview with BBC Newsbeat, Calvin Harris revealed that he really
wanted to work with Emeli Sandé on his chart-topping new album, 18 Months.
‘I really, really wanted Emeli Sandé on it [18 Months] and I was chasing her for the best part of a year. I went to one of her shows in LA – I met her and her manager. They’re up for it, it’s just that things went insane for her. She’s really, really massive now. I think she’s still up for it. I hope she is ’cause I think it would work really well.’
Two of the best in the business right now, on one song – I think it would work really well too. Emeli Sandé, who won three MOBO Awards at the show that took place last Saturday, has confirmed she would like to work with Calvin Harris on her follow-up LP.
Speaking to BBC Newsbeat at the MOBOs she said: ‘I’m definitely going to be working on it, or just new material to put out there. Maybe an EP before the album but I’m just excited because I’ve got so many ideas and I’ve been writing a lot.
‘I’d love to get in there again with Labrinth, that would be great. [I’m a] big fan of Kanye West, there’s lots [sic] of people,’ she added, noting Calvin Harris as one of those she’d like to work with.
‘Trying not to think about’ her new material she wants to mimic the approach she used for writing her debut Our Version Of Events.
‘The way I wrote the first album was with no expectation and that’s the kind of mindset I need to get into for the second one,’ says Sandé.
