Watch the fairytale inspired, Hype Williams directed video for Nicki’s ‘Va Va Voom’
On October 26, Nicki released the visual for the pop-infused single, Va Va Voom. It was one of the songs I liked most from the pop face of Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. It’s airy beat and subtle electro rhythms made for a another successful genre crossover, much like Superbass.
We see her playing with a prince charming lover complete with white horse. She then embodies a damsel in distress, a fairy godmother and a beautiful wicked witch.
This isn’t the kind of video I expected for the song but I like it nonetheless. The video, although theatrical, sees a more toned down Minaj in a fairytale storyline that is often comical and very girly. Similar to the video for Moment 4 Life (feat. Drake) and tamer than the video for new single with Cassie, The Boys.
Nicki will release her re-packaged album on November 19. Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up will contain a disc of new material as well as a 90-minute bonus DVD documenting behind the scenes footage of the raptress’ time on the road.
She is also set to star in a three-part special airing on E!. Nicki tweeted: ‘We watched the REUP DVD and the 1st episode of the E! series….u guys are going to go crazzzzyyyyy when you see it! NOV19TH DVD, NOV4TH E!’
