Not for the faint-hearted, Azealia Banks’ ‘212’ is a certified banger
Enter Azealia Banks – 20 year old female rapper from Harlem. She’s in the process of compiling her debut album. “I’m moving to London next month, and me and Paul Epworth are going to bang this shit out. He’s doing the whole thing,” she revealed in an interview with Pitchfork. But for now she’s dropped a few tasters on the music scene.
Certified club banger 212 is a track that indicates she’s aiming to bring music with a blatant Banks twist. She’s shot a striking video for the track which consists heavily of shots of her lips, making that lyric “I’ma ruin you c*unt” just that little bit more blasphemous.
What’s slightly disturbing is that on the surface she appears cute but what that translates into is a cute little firecracker that sparks lyrics bordering on pure filth like “I guess that c*nt gettin’ eaten.” What’s disturbing is the fact that you might actually like it.
Evidently not for the faint-hearted, Azealia claims on the closing of 212 “this shit been mine, mine.” And if this track is anything to go by, there could be some truth in that ad lib. She’s already performed at a number of venues and tickets are on sale now for her upcoming performances. Given a while, she might just prove her five-foot-four frame is here for the long-haul.
